Memorial Day is only 90 days away so while merchants and homeowners begin thinking about preparing for the upcoming season, it appears beach replenishment is returning to the sands of Long Beach Island  The most recent project began in May of 2015 but was interrupted when the dredges assigned to LBI were called to complete a project in Georgia deemed as "urgent to navigation at the mouth of the Mississippi River."  Dredges are expected to  return to LBI in early April to begin work at the north end of Beach Haven and according to the Army Corps of Engineers, have most of the Borough completed by Memorial Day.  The Holgate beaches are expected to be completed by June 23rd.  This is great news for the beaches on the southern end of LBI.  The summer of 2016 will begin with wide, safe beaches for everyone to enjoy.  There are still issues looming regarding the northern beaches with respect to eminent domain.  For more information or to be kept current on this project, please visit http://www.nap.usace.army.mil
