Dont Leave Your Butts On The Beach

I'm talking cigarette butts! We've all heard the expression "Life's a Beach!" On Long Beach Island, it's true. Both economy and ecology depend heavily on the health of the ocean and bay beaches and the people and creatures that frequent them. Anything harmful left on the beaches, accidentally or on purpose, can be stepped on, inadvertantly swallowed by a shorebird, or eventually washed into the ocean and bay to negatively impact underwater life. So if one must pollute the air at the beach with smoke fumes, please be considerate enough to take the butts with you when you leave...the beach is not an ash tray!! The only thing to be left behind on the beach is foot prints.
