DIY Home Improvements

I’ve always been interested in figuring out how things worked and building stuff, even when I was a little kid. Once I got married, my father-in-law was in the construction business so he taught me, little by little, many things about building and fixing houses. So that being said, it’s taken many years and lessons to learn how to navigate through a multitude of construction issues. But now, at this old age, I can do or fix just about anything. My point is that if you are willing and have an interest it’s a good thing to learn all you can about home repair. It could turn out to be worth a lot of money over the course of your life. I don’t mean to say you should start a home repair business, but you could save yourself  a boatload of money by either doing your own home repairs or at least have enough knowledge to not get ripped off if you need to hire someone to do the repairs. My daughter and son-in-law just purchased a home and I marvel at how much they don’t know about home maintenance. Especially, since they both grew up in households where their parents fixed mostly everything that popped up. Maybe we sheltered them too much. OK, I don’t want to get on the band wagon, but my thought is we all should try to learn and experience everything we can, when it comes to home maintenance. That way when it comes time to sell your home, it will not only look good but it will be in tip top shape for the next owner. You make even make some additional cash!
