Comedy Night In Beach Haven To Benefit Local Fire Company
Dated: March 21 2017
Laugh your butt off, but please don’t spit out your food during Comedy Night at the Beach Haven Firehouse. The event, presented by the fire company auxiliary and Ginger Ninja Productions on April 1, will be headlined by Kevin Israel, who, when he’s not helping to inform The SandPaper about the ongoing Route 72 Bridge work as a state Department of Transportation spokesman, is performing laugh-out-loud comedy with some of the nation’s top acts.
Israel stars in his own “B.R.O.’s” web series and cohosts “The Comedy Point Radio Show” on WMBS-590. He has also contributed to Perez Hilton and was a recent featured contributor on TMZ. Israel has appeared on NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox and has also guest-hosted the Sirius satellite radio RawDog comedy morning show. He won the prestigious Gilda Radner’s Laugh-off in 2013 and was a star of the viral hit “Gym Clowns,” which has been viewed more than 3 million times.
The evening of laughs in Beach Haven, open to anyone 21 or older, will be hosted by Natty Bumpercar, whose credits include the Broadway and Greenwich Village comedy clubs.
It will also feature LaTice, a South Jersey native who has appeared on ABC’s “The View” for its “Hilarious Housewives” contest. LaTice was chosen to perform in NYC’s She-Devil Comedy Festival in 2015 and 2016 and has also competed in the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas. She has been seen on the Dr. Oz and Bethenny talk shows.
Comedy Night at the firehouse, from 7 to 9 p.m., will also include a happy hour food buffet before the show as well as a cash wine and beer bar opening at 6 p.m. Coffee and dessert will be served at the end of the evening.
Tickets cost $40 per person and can be reserved by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Proceeds will benefit the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Co.
Last year’s inaugural comedy night, the first big event for the auxiliary, helped members purchase supplies for the local firefighters during active fires, including water, food and Gatorade, along with a new microwave and stove for the kitchen.
“It was much appreciated by the firemen, and it felt good to be able to do something substantial,” said Melanie Markoski, auxiliary president. “Usually our fundraisers are bake sales and flower sales, and they are great, but we needed an event that could really make a difference.
“We had so much fun last year, our faces hurt the next day from laughing,” she added. “It’s just a fun night, and it helps support our fire company. We think that’s a win-win.” —K.A.E.
