Chowderfest Weekend Is Almost Upon Us
The weather should be cool but dry for this weekend’s Chowderfest here on Long Beach Island. Sunday, October 6th from 11-4 will see the 31st Annual Chowder Cook Off Classic take place in Beach Haven at the Taylor Avenue ballfield between 9th Street and Taylor Avenue by the bay. It is shaping up to be another fantastic competition where the real winners are those who get to taste all of the offerings. Three categories are contested among the 15 entrants; New England Clam Chowder, Manhattan Chowder and Creative Seafood Chowder. General Admission tickets are $30 while a $65 VIP ticket will get you early access at 10AM along with other goodies like an official T Shirt and exclusive access to the VIP bar.
Before enjoying a day full of filling up on Chowder you can enjoy Merchant Mart on Saturday, October 5th. In the same spot as the Chowder Cook Off, Merchant Mart features live music, special activities for the kids, specialty foods and cold beer in addition to the blow out bargains offered by the dozens of local merchants. Merchant Mart is a free event that goes on rain or shine.
