A unifying force- The Ocean County Library System and our partners are strongly committed to serving the increasingly diverse Ocean County. We are dedicated in action to our Vision - Connecting People, Building Community. Ocean County Library has a tradition of excellence in providing services for all ages, with a special focus on children and their families. We are proud to be leaders in serving diverse populations. We are committed to diversity and inclusion. Our four strategic goals reflect our commitment: The Ocean County Library is the Heart of the Community. The Library Nurtures Growth and Change. Ocean County Residents use and champion the Library. The Library is committed to Organizational Excellence.
Ocean County Library serves over 540,000 residents. The 33 municipalities that comprise Ocean County vary widely in median income, age distribution, and racial and ethnic makeup. Located between the exploding New York and Philadelphia metropolitan areas, Ocean County is an excellent example of suburban growth-complete with its benefits and challenges.

We have 21 locations serving the demands of the growing population of the Ocean County communities. Our headquarters in downtown Toms River has undergone an expansion doubling the size of the library. We recently opened a reading center in the Whiting section of Manchester and plans are underway to expand the Brick branch.
We have an excellent reputation with the citizens and government of Ocean County, also among public libraries in the State and in the Nation. The Ocean County Library has won many awards, and recently received recognition nationally. The Ocean County Library has been recognized for two prestigious library awards: The John Cotton Dana award for Library Public Relations and the National Medal awarded by the Institute of Museums and Library Sciences, recognizing us as one of the best libraries in the country in 2007. We are constantly seeking ways to improve the way we do our work and improve the quality of life for our community. We invite you to become part of The Ocean County Library and explore all that we have to offer!
