RELEASED LAST YEAR AND DIRECTED BY ROBERT REDFORD, THE MOVIE TELLS THE STORY OF MARY SURRATT, THE ONLY FEMALE CONVICTED IN THE CONSPIRACY TO ASSASSINATE PRESDIENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN. SHE WAS ALSO THE FIRST WOMEN EXECUTED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. 

SURRANTI WAS THE OWNER OF THE BOARDING HOUSE WHERE JOHN WILKES BOOTH AND OTHERS MET TO PLOT THE ASSASSINATION OF THE NATION'S 16TH PRESIDENT. HE WAS SHOT WHILE WATCHING A PLAY OUR AMERICAN COUSIN AT FORD'S THEATRE.
