2017 NHL Playoffs And Then There Were Eight
We have gotten through the first round of the playoffs and are ready for round two. The first round produced a bunch of close games with lots
of overtime and double overtime action, which added to the total number of 1 goal games. I would say there were a couple surprises and some
expected results. Two of the wild card teams advanced which means two number one seeds including the top point leader in the west, were
eliminated. Nashville (w) defeated Chicago (1*) and NY Rangers (w) defeated Chicago (1).
In the other games St Louis (3) beat Minnesota (2), Anaheim (1) beat Calgary (w), Edmonton (2) beat San Jose (3), Washington (1*) beat Toronto
(w), Pittsburgh (2) beat Columbus (3) and Ottawa (2) beat Boston (3).
The second round begins on Wednesday April 26th and here are the new pairings:
Nashville vs St Louis
Anaheim vs Edmonton
Washington vs Pittsburgh
Ottawa vs New York
The second round should be as exciting as the first. The feeling of most of the commentators I’ve heard are feeling that the winner of the
Washington / Pittsburgh series will be the early favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Pittsburgh is the current cup holder. After my dismal predictions
with only eight teams left in the Men’s NCAA tournament, here we go again.
Nashville, Anaheim, Pittsburgh & New York. I’ll leave it there for now.
