Will New Jersey Be Hit By Another Hurricane Sandy

The easy and short answer is, No. But as Marisa Tomei said in “My Cousin Vinny”, “It’s a trick question”.  There are actually two aspects to the question. The first has no debate, they have retired Sandy from the list of names used for storms. The second is a little more complex and has some differing answers. The best way to get to the heart of it, is to ask, “Was Sandy a hurricane or a superstorm”? Technically, when it hit New Jersey, it lost the properties of a hurricane. What’s the point you may ask? Just bring awareness to this year’s season (June 1st – November 30th). The predictions are for 13-19 named storms, 6-9 hurricanes of which 3-5 are to be major. So far we’ve had 4 named storms. Here is the list for 2013:
Andrea Barry Chantal Dorian Erin Fernand Gabrielle Humberto Ingrid Jerry Karen Lorenzo Melissa Nestor Olga Pablo Rebekah  Sebastien Tanya Van Wendy
Whether it was the mostly none event of Irene or the storm of storms Sandy, learn the lesson, please be prepared. Visit http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/prepare/ for more information.
