LBI Beach Badges- What You Need to Know
When visiting Long Beach Island, you'll need to purchase an LBI beach badge. Children under 12 are free, and seniors are offered discounted rates, or are free in some areas.
How do I purchase a beach badge?
You can purchase a beach tag at township and borough halls. Each township has its own rate and designated area. You can also purchase a badge from the "badge checker" that comes around to check that you have one. You can choose a daily tag, weekly tag or season tag.
What if I'm renting a house or staying at a hotel?
Some rental houses include tags, but many don't. Check with your real estate company when making arrangements. At hotels, you may be able to leave a deposit to borrow tags for your stay. Ask at the front desk, as each hotel is different.
Who needs a tag?
Children over the age of 12, and adults. Seniors are offered a discounted rate over the age of 65 in some townships, other townships if you're over 65 it's free.
Why do I need a tag?
The money raised helps to keep the beaches clean, life guarded, and restored.
When do I need a tag?
Tags are needed during the in-season summer time, while beaches are lifeguarded.
What about a discount?
If you purchase your season tag before a certain date (pre-summer), you can get a discount.
Each area has their own designated section of beach where you will need their tag. When you find the town you'll be staying in, contact your local township or borough hall to find out all the details.
