The Surflight Theatre announced it will reopen this summer on Long Beach Island after being shut down for two years.

The theater is slated to open on June 23, according to a release on its website.

Surflight, which had been open for 65 seasons, closed in 2015 after failing to restructure under bankruptcy in 2013. In 2012, the theater endured a fire and then extensive damage from Hurricane Sandy.

The new season will kick off with the musical, "Footloose," and will showcase a full season of musicals under new owner Al Parinello, the former owner of radio station WJSE. Steve Steiner will return as producing artistic director.

The release said it will also produce theater for children at the Landmark Theatre and the ShowPlace Ice Cream Parlor will open up next door.

The theater is also looking for volunteers and donations, according to its Facebook page.

A full list of productions for the upcoming season is available on the theater's website.
