Six OneofaKind LBI Homes On Summer House Tour
Take a self-guided tour through six exquisite homes that showcase the best of LBI and its renowned architecture on Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The 51st annual Seashore Open House Tour is one of the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences’ major events and fundraisers.
Houses are carefully chosen for their unique architectural style, seaside landscaping, beautiful interiors plus sustainable construction and energy conservation. All the homes are located in the north end of LBI, called by some the “Hamptons of New Jersey.”
Included on the tour is “Fisherman’s Paradise,” designed by Jay Madden Architects, which incorporates the three passions of the homeowner: his love of Asian art and design, the maximization of wide-open spaces, and a kitchen to delight an epicurean. The house also offers quick access to the offshore canyons for deep-sea tuna fishing.
Most astonishing, the entire back of the dwelling opens up through the installation of “Euro Walls” that slide on a rear track, offering unobscured water views.
Just minutes from the Causeway Bridge and steps from fine dining and shopping, another home is a one-of-a-kind vacation oasis. Every inch of this property with a view of the sea, has been polished and planted to delight a very hard-working, hard-playing family. Stone, copper, marble and river rock offer a soothing environment to relax and enjoy the ocean air. Each floor of the home, expertly crafted by KHE Construction, provides a central and bi-level area where specialty rooms are tucked away to relax, sleep or catch up on work. From the rooftop lounge through the modern kitchen to the sports pavilion out back, this home is a gem.
Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 the day of the event. Stop at the LBI Foundation in Loveladies or register at LBIFoundation.org/summer.
There is a new feature of the house tour this year: There will be a free Preview Brunch on Sunday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at the LBIF. Some of the architects, builders and interior decorators will be on hand to answer questions and fact sheets will be available. Please RSVP to the Foundation for the brunch.
No bags or shoes are allowed in the homes; wear socks or they will be available for purchase. Coffee table-sized brochures will be available at the brunch and on the day of the tour.
