Rediscovering Sara Paretsky

Just spent a lovely snowbound month, with my fireplace and 3 of her latest books.  What a joy.  After drifting away from V.I. Warshawski in the 90's, I have come back to three excellent reads.  Critical Mass, with plots twists dating back to pre WW11 Europe and the patents to an early computer; it has all the great plot twists that come with many well defined characters and subplots.  We visit again with Warshawski's regular supporting cast and meet her cousin Petra in Body Work and Break Down.  Body Work has V.I. cruising the rough underbelly of the Chicago's kinky conceptual art scene in order to solve several murders, none of which seem connected, with clues leading to Baghdad.   And then with Break Down she unravels how the granddaughter of one of Chicago's richest men could be caught in a grave yard, next to a murdered P.I. while chasing vampires.  All three books were beautifully written with a great pace and enough plot to keep you guessing, but not baffled.  I recommend them all.  And will be going back for more.  Stay warm and keep reading books.
