People with an interest in composing verse are welcome to attend the next Poet’s Studio on Thursday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at the Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library in Surf City. The coordinator is Richard Morgan, author of the Sea Glass trilogy of poems andHebrew Lessons: Poems from My Jewish Heart. In the first portion of the studio, Morgan will give tips on writing poetry. After that, participants can work on their own poems or read them aloud.

“It’s done in a fun, informal atmosphere,” he said. “We have a mixed of experienced poets and new ones.”

Morgan said that because April is National Poetry Month, the studio plans a poetry reading on Thursday, March 16, at 1 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

“They’ll be reading poems with a spring theme,” he said.

On Wednesday, April 29, at 10 a.m., Morgan will be reading from his own works.
