Located on Bayshore Drive in Barnegat, the Bay Beach is quiet and close. The parking is great and the water is still salty. Bring your chair, a book and your camera if like photography. Watch the boats go by and take photos for your album.
If you would rather have fresh water then head on over to the Manahawkin Lake. Located on the corner of Routes 9 & 72, The Manahawkin Lake has over 70 acres of land and water. The lake is stocked with Large Mouth Bass, Yellow Pirch, Catfish and more. You can launch a roof top boat and have an electric motor. Make sure you have a fishing license, you need one to fish.
Water not your thing? Stay in Barnegat and walk Ocean County's "Rails to Trails" Barnegat Trail. A once railway converted to a walking/jogging path that stretches approximately 5 miles, soon to be 17 miles. You can start in the center of town, park in the public parking on Railroad avenue, walk just south of the Nuclear Generating Station, then walk back, or, just walk through the many Antique shops Barnegat has to offer. Stop at "recycling the past" home to the hit TV show "Operation Salvage", a new hit show on the DYI network. Located on Route 9 in Barnegat.
