Its Raining on LBI Now What
Most of us, when we plan for our vacations to sunny destinations tend to forget about the possibility that we may have to find alternatives to the beach on rainy days. Have no fear! Here are a few ideas that you can still enjoy on your vacation on or around LBI even if tanning is out of the question.
1. Shopping: With hundreds of stores located on the 18 mile stretch of LBI, you can find anything from Summer fashions, surfboards and candy to furniture and hot tubs! If larger retail stores are your thing, take a quick ride over the Causeway Bridge where you will find the likes of Kohls, Best Buy, Target, BJ's and more.
2. Ron Jon Surf Shop: Being one of the largest surf shops on the East Coast it is easy for surf fanatics to get lost in this shop. Everything on a surfers or potential surfers wishlist can be found in this store.
3. Take in a Movie or a Play: Catch a movie at LBI's own movie theatre or watch a live play at the historic Surflight Theatre. Also the relatively new Regal Manahawkin 10 located a short distance from the island always has first run movies to enjoy.
4: Feeling Lucky: Atlantic City is located 30 minutes south of Long Beach Island. With 12 casinos and tons of restraunts it is easy to get out of the rain and have a very enjoyable day. Who knows, it could even turn out to be a profitable day also!
5: Eat, Drink and be Merry: There are so many places to eat and drink on LBI. Wether you want to pull up a chair at the bar or sit down to a 5 star dining experience, it is all available on LBI.
6: Dance the night away: Enjoy the thumping music of some of the shores best nightclubs.
7: Hike up Old Barney: The Barnegat Lighthouse located in the Barnegat Lighthouse State Park at the northern tip of LBI has 217 steps to the top, sure to give any workout enthusiast a leg burn, but offers the greatest views on LBI. Definitely worth the trip to the top.
I have no doubt by the time you have been able to take advantage of some of these fantastic ideas, the sun will be back out and you can once again begin to work on that gorgeous summertime tan!
