Here are a few things to get started:
First of all take a walk around the inside of your house, is there clutter, do the carpets need to be cleaned, how about the windows? Take stock of all the things that need to be cleaned or declutter and make a list so you can start to tackle each item one at a time. Don't try to have a do everything day, it's exhausting and not worth your time, you will only frustrate yourself and abandon your list altogether!
Look through each room in the house should you get rid of some furniture? Should you paint a room to brighten it up? Make sure your bathrooms and kitchen sparkle!!! I mean sparkle!!! Most buyers will notice if the kitchen looks super clean along with the bathrooms, they can over look small items elsewhere.
Once you get the inside into marketing shape, take a walk around the outside of your house; do the flower beds need to be cleaned out, are there still leaves hanging around the yard? Does the front door need a fresh coat of color, and be sure to look up, how is the roof looking along with the gutters and downspouts are they clogged up or does water run freely through them? Take a look at hedges around the house do they need to be trimmed?
These may seem like simple items, but in the long run they all equate to getting a higher dollar for your home! Once you have completed your to do lists, go back again and admire your handiwork and ask yourself would you be interested in buying your house? If the answer is yes, then you did a great job preparing it for marketing.
Remember it's all about curb appeal if you can't get a prospective buyer past the curb, you'll never get them into the house! Now is a great time to start your inside preparations as the weather still has not quite broken into springtime yet. Happy cleaning !!
