While there was no Triple Crown winner this year, sorry
California Chrome, you gave us some excitement. Lord Stanley’s (silver) cup
went to the LA Kings, defeating the New York Rangers 4 games to 1 in the best
of seven contest. Three of the games went in to overtime. The last one went to double
overtime. Defenseman Alec Martinez scored the winning goal. How sweet it is to
win on home ice. This is their second cup in three years, having won in 2012.
Last year the Chicago Blackhawks won in 6 games defeating the Boston Bruins. Right
winger Justin Williams of the Kings was the MVP of the series, he also was the
leading scorer. A tip of the hat to the goalie for the Rangers, Henrik Lundqvist
who gave it a valiant effort. So this year the Kings raise the cup. Don’t worry
hockey fans, the summer will go quickly and before you know it, they’ll be
dropping the puck once again.
